Tillman’s Pass (5320m) was named after a pioneer British Adventurer and Explorer, H. W. Tillman (1898 – 1977), who explored the Himalaya in the mid-20th Century. It is a difficult trek as it involves some snow climbing and traversing one of the highest passes in the Himalaya. We cover the same ground as the popular Langtang Valley trek, however, we then move through an extremely remote area (there is no human habitation for several days) on our way to the glaciated area behind the peaks of Urkinmang (6100m) and Dorje Lakpa (6700m) of the Jugal Himalayan Range. After the pass, the trail drops down to the Eastern side of the Jugal Range, home to five lakes (Panch Pokhari) and a popular pilgrimage site for local people from the green valleys of Sindhu Palchok area in central Nepal. This trek blends the experience of an adventurous trek over the high pass with meeting the ethnic Tamang people.
