Dhaulagiri (8167m) translates to "big peak" in Nepali or Sanskrit and sure enough the dome like Mt. Dhaulagiri is one of the giant mountains and also one of the highest peaks in the world. It was presumed to be the world's highest mountain before Mt. Everest was surveyed. It takes a little over two weeks to walk around this giant peak along with its neighbors. The Mt. Dhaulagiri circuit trek is spectacular and challenging. Only trekkers very experienced with high altitude should take part in this journey.
