Three Jewels Adventures
Amber Tamang is the founder manager of the Three Jewels Adventures.Apart from managing his own company, he is the local representative and trip leader for Himalayan High Treks, CA, USA. He was born in a remote village of Solukhumbu lower foothills of Mt. Everest. His tiny village of Tapting is off the trekking route so it's undeveloped and not even mentioned in most of the maps of the area. Up to high school, his schooling was in Sindhuli of southern Nepal where his grandfather helped him to study. In 1993, he first ventured to Kathmandu for further study. He holds Masters degree in culture (that includes Indian philosophy, History and Archaeology) and also undergraduate degree in Law from Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu. His career in tourism begun as part time trekking staff from 1993. He has received trainings and participated in different workshops and seminars related to culture and sustainable tourism. He shares his knowledge in this field contributing articles in various publications. In free times he spends his time helping his wife to cook and traveling with his team in to new trekking areas. Sushma Tamang, assistant manager and tour guide of Three Jewels Adventures is among the few female tourism enthusiasts in Nepal. Sushma holds bachelors degree in economics from woman's college in Kathmandu and recently got training as cultural tour guide from Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management Kathmandu. She had her schooling in Udayapur, a remote southern district of eastern Nepal. She lives in Kathmandu with her small family accompanied by her husband and daughter. Sushma's hobby includes volunteering and seeing new places. She has traveling extensively in Nepal and visited India and China outside Nepal.
Utar Tamang works as Trekking and climbing guiding for Three Jewels Adventures on contract basis. Utar has visited most of the trekking sector and led many trips around. He is certified guide from NTHAM (tourism academy) and trained in wilderness first aid. He also has received climbing guide training from NMA(Nepal Mountaineering Association )and has already climbed Lobuche east (6119mtr) on the way to Everest base camp trek, Pisang peak in Annapurna and Tent Peak also in Annapurna region and Stok Kang Ri in Ladakh.
Karna B. Tamang 'KB' three times Everest summiteer, once solo from camp 4 to the top is one of the outstanding climbing guides in Nepal. In his climbing trip to the summit of Everest in 2011, KB managed to handle rare rescue of his client brining down an semi-unconscious client near from the summit to all the way to base camp safely. KB has climbed many other peaks including Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Amadablam, Mt Himlung, Parchamo Peak, Island Peak, Lobuche East, Mera Peak and others. He was involved in rescue squad in recent Mt. Everest disaster of 2013 and 2014. While not climbing he enjoys hiking, canyoning and spending time with his wife and family.
Ang Gyalzen Sherpa is a freelance mountaineering and trekking guide. He prefers to lead climbing trip as he is very dedicated mountain guide as some of our clients have said. However while not climbing he does lead treks too. He has climbed many small peaks including one successful climb of Mt. Everest.
Pasi Sherpa is a post graduate student living and studying in Kathmandu. She is originally from Okhaldhunga a district in the foothills of Mt. Everest. Like many other students, she also manage her educational expenses by on her own. Unlike many of her colleagues, her work is not in fancy office. Instead she has to walk up and down in the mountain. She loves working as assistant guide enjoying the nature and sharing stories to her clients. She has completed Trekking Guiding and Rock Climbing just recently. Once graduated, she is interested to work as full time guide.
Ang Phuri Sherpa is from Tapting Solukhumbu. He has completed higher secondary level of education from his village school. He has led treks in remote places like Tilman's Pass in the Langtang Valley and Upper Dolpo to Mustang in restricted area of west Nepal. Ang Furi is also enthusiastic young adventurer. He does climbing and mountain biking too. Besides trekking guide training he has participated in outdoor trip coordinating workshop. He speaks good English while explaining local culture, life and stories associated to the trekking places. He can also speak some Tibetan, Sherpa and German. Ang Furi together with our other staff have tried to help our village and remote places affected by recent earthquake in Nepal. He is the coordinator of rebuilding Buddhist centre back in his village and currently involved in volunteering work there.
Kshetra Bdr. Basnet is sales and marketing manager of Three Jewels Adventures. He comes from Sindhupalchok a district bordered with Tibet China. He has completed bachelors degree. He has learned Chinese Mandarin and his communication in English is also very good. Kshetra is also a creative web master and graphic designer.
Lok Tamang (LOK) is from Goly, Solukhumbu in the lower Everest region and guided several treks for Three Jewels prior to receiving a Trekking Guide Certificate in 2012 from Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM). He has also participated in first aid and eco tourism trainings and workshops. Trekking experience includes the less traveled areas of Dolpo, Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, upper Mustang, Manaslu - Tsum and Tamang Heritage Trail in Langtang National Park. Lok has also supported treks in frequently visited areas including Annapurna, Everest region and Mt. Kailash Tibet.
Nima Sange Sherpa is the senior climbing Sherpa at Three Jewels. In his career as climbing as assistant guide and Sherpa, he has climbed more than 10 different trekking peaks including Mt. Baruntse (7000+meter), Pumori, Amadablam and over 8000mter of Mt. Everest. While not climbing he does support us as trekking sirdar specialized in remote treks and high passes and he helps his family back in the Solukhumbu.
Pur Bahadur Gurung 'Yukta' is another outstanding trekking and mountain guide of Nepal. He hails from Laprak village in Mt. Manaslu Region. He is one of the most experienced local guide to take people in Manaslu trek. However, he is skilled mountain guide as he bagged Mt. Everest Summit in 2010. He has climbed other peaks such as Islang Peak, Mera Peak, Lobuch East, and Naya Kanga in Langtang Region. Yukta's village with over 600 families is only few miles far from epicenter of deadly earth quake that devastated not only his village but many places in Nepal. Yukta tirelessly worked for weeks or even months helping is villagers including neighbors, relatives some of who lost their near and dear ones after the earthquake.
