EXCELLENT Based on 218 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Voyage65688997612Verified Highly recommend This is one of the best experiences for Kathmandu Amber our guide was very helpful and caring. He made sure we are comfortable and very cared for. Highly appreciated and recommended. It’s a great experience because of Amber and his company Three Jewels AdventuresPosted on Tripadvisor Hakan HVerified Review hidden walk and visit to local Newari food market Before our ten-day Pikey Peak trek — which we also booked with Three Jewels — we visited this local food market guided by Amber Tamang. What a hidden gem this is! Amber’s explanations were personal, informative, and a lot of fun. We also got to taste several dishes and truly experience the Newari cuisine! Highly recommended! Thank you, Amber, for your wonderful tour.Posted on Tripadvisor sebastiaanVerified Best trekking ever This was truly the most beautiful trek I have ever done. This was partly due to the organization. Being able to book directly from the Netherlands at very competitive prices. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew a lot about the region. It was also great that she spoke English well. The porters made it complete. Thanks for the superb organization, and that is why I can highly recommend Three Jewels Adventures... a solid 10 from me. Thank you, dear people, for taking us to paradise on earth.Posted on Tripadvisor wendy fVerified Three Jewels Adventures- excceptional I cannot speak highly enough of Lok and Amber from Three Jewels. This is an outstanding local guiding company, and our experience with them was exceptional from start to finish. From the warm welcome at Kathmandu airport to the seamless pre-trip organisation and meticulous attention to detail throughout, everything was handled with care and professionalism. The trek itself—through the remote Nar Phu Valley and over the challenging Khang La Pass, then onto the Annapurna circuit and Thorung La pass—was both demanding and unforgettable, with snow and unusually cold conditions for that time of year. Lok and Amber were consistently thoughtful, kind, and reassuring, balancing professionalism with a genuine sense of fun. Their warmth and generosity felt limitless. When a member of our group became unexpectedly unwell (not altitude-related), Lok and Amber responded immediately with calm expertise. They organised a helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu and continued to provide support and care once back in the city. Their handling of the situation was exceptional and gave all of us great confidence during a stressful time. This was my second trek in Nepal with Lok as our guide, and once again he proved to be knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and deeply committed to ensuring everyone’s comfort and enjoyment. His connection to the region, culture, and trails is evident in everything he does. What sets Three Jewels apart is that they are truly local—deeply rooted in Nepal, with an authentic understanding of the Himalayas and a passion for sharing it. Trekking isn’t just their work; it’s clearly part of who they are. I would not hesitate to recommend them and would absolutely trek with them again.Posted on Tripadvisor Akiko CVerified Life changing trip with the best trekking agency This was my 2nd trekking trip to Nepal (Tamang Heritage to Langtang Valley), and there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to do it again with Three Jewels Adventures. They are the most thoughtful, kind and responsible trekking agency. Not only the trek was epic, I have learned so much about the culture, people and the history once again, because they truly understand my interests. Nepal is about so much more than just trekking in high mountains. I feel enormous amount of gratitude for Amber (and Mani) arranging everything and taking such an excellent care of me every time I go. It gets better every time! I'll be back next year and I truly cannot wait to see them again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. See you soon!Posted on Tripadvisor Nomad29934562218Verified My First Solo Trek in Lower Dolpo with Three Jewels Adventures For my first solo trek, I chose to travel with Three Jewels Adventures in April 2026 for a Lower Dolpo / Phoksundo Lake trek in Nepal. Before booking, I requested quotations from three different agencies. Based on the communication, responsiveness, and overall pricing, I decided to go with Three Jewels Adventures. As a woman travelling alone and visiting Nepal for the first time, it was important for me to feel reassured that the agency was reliable and professional. Amber and Mani were always responsive by both email and phone, and communication throughout the process was smooth and clear. About the trek itself: I would describe it as moderate rather than difficult. I was not particularly physically prepared and have an average hiking pace, but I still managed well. There are some challenging sections, especially because the terrain is very dry and dusty, but overall it was manageable and enjoyable. There are no foreigners tourists there, 100% of the people are met were local tourists and there were only a handful of them. One thing to know is that the first days are mostly about reaching the region itself. The dramatic mountain scenery comes later in the journey. Personally, I found the beginning of the trek less interesting visually, but once reaching the higher areas around Ringmo and Phoksundo Lake, the landscape became absolutely stunning. My original itinerary was: 29 March: Arrival in Kathmandu Greeted by Amber and Pemba, my guide for the trip 30 March: Fly to Nepalgunj 31 March: Fly to Juphal Flight got cancel due to weather so we had to take a jeep for 12 hours Meet porter staff and trek to Kageni (4hr) and rest at local tea house. 01 April: Trekking to Chepka (4-5hr), rest at local tea house 02 April: Trekking to Jharana hotel (4-5hr), and rest at local teahouse 03 April: Trekking to Ringmo village (4-5hr) and rest at local lodge or homestay 04 April: Rest day – visit the lake side, monastery and local monuments related to Bon and Buddhist faith 05 April: Hike toward upper Dolpo along the lake side towards a vantage point from where most of the Y shaped lake can be views with Mt. Nurbu Khang on the backdrop and return to Ringmo (4-5hr) 06 April: Trekking down to Chhepka, and rest (6-7hr) 07 April: Trekking to Dunai via Suligad ghat. (6-7hr) 08 April: Trekking to Juphal (approx. 4hr) 09 April: Fly back to Nepalgunj Fly back to Kathmandu 10 April: Kathmandu valley sightseeing Visit with Mani which I loved, Kathmandu deserves to be visited for it's cultural sites and artisanal work 11 April: Departure During the trip, I personally felt that some parts of the itinerary were slightly repetitive and included more rest time than necessary for my own travel style. In the end, we adapted the schedule and returned to Juphal faster than initially planned. We spent two nights in Ringmo, explored the lake, monastery, and viewpoints toward Upper Dolpo, before trekking back down toward Juphal. Then, travelled by jeep to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha near the Indian border, which ended up being a very interesting addition to the journey. Nepal itself was quite different from what I expected. I was surprised by the amount of rubbish in some areas, and honestly the first days were not easy for me. However, the further you go into the mountains, the more nature takes over and the more special the experience becomes. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be for the agency to provide more guidance beforehand regarding the different Dolpo options and pacing. Looking back, I think I would either have shortened the trip slightly if only visiting Phoksundo, or alternatively committed to a longer full Lower Dolpo circuit. Since travelling from far away and leaving my children behind was emotionally challenging, I wanted to make the most of the experience. That said, I still had a very positive experience with Three Jewels Adventures. Pemba, my guide, was truly lovely and very caring throughout the trip. You could clearly feel that he genuinely enjoys what he does and pays attention to all the small details that make a difference during a trek. Another important point: for the package offered, all expenses within Nepal were included (hotels, domestic flights, meals, transportation, etc.), so there were no hidden costs during the trip. Overall, I would recommend Three Jewels Adventures, especially for travellers looking for a serious and trustworthy local agency with good communication and caring guides.Posted on Tripadvisor Jernej ZVerified Makalu base camp trek 2026 Just came back from Makalu base camp trek. The agency provide us with a great guide Kancha. He was one of the most friendly person ever. Great porters…. Great organization, safety on the first place. Recommend the agency to all trekers… Ask for Kancha as a guide.Posted on Tripadvisor Jeffrey CVerified Annapurna splendor. 2026 Amber organized an excellent trek for us. Group of six. Fantastic Mardi Himal vistas. Knowledgeable and friendly Guide. Well paced and seamless trek.Posted on Tripadvisor Kevin KVerified Fantastic people and trustworthy and knowledgable business I have been traveling to Nepal for more than 35 years and have found that Amber Tamang at his business, Three Jewels Adventures, to be fully trustworthy, very knowledgeable about dozens of treks and mountaineering routes in Nepal, and a joy to work with. On this two week trek we went to KopraDonda and Marti Himal. The guide, Nyima, and porters we worked with were characteristically excellent. I give Amber Tamang and Three Jewels Adventure the highest rating. These folks are great.Posted on Tripadvisor pawel hVerified Truly unforgettable experience in company of an excellent guide and porter I have completed three treks with Three Jewels Adventures. All were superbly organized and provided an unforgettable experience. TJA is a family run company that specializes in small groups/individuals (although they can arrange treks for larger groups they have done e.g. to Lawudo Gompa). This means that you won't be bunched with other trekkers but will be in the company you came to Nepal with or, as is my case, solo. In the pre-trek phase Amber (a very nice, polite, and patient person) will suggest itineraries that suit your interests, timeframe, and degree of difficulty. He will work to adjust itinerary to your wishes, if needed. From the moment they pick you up at the airport to the time they drop you off, it is clear that they making sure that your trek as good and worry-free experience as possible is their highest priority. They check before leaving Kathmandu that you have everything and if you need something they will help you get it. The guides/porters are very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional and will take care of every detail, including unforeseen developments. (In my case it was an unexpected puja in a monastery were supposed to stay overnight in one case and a snowfall that forced us to change our plans in the other). In both cases the guide seamlessly made alternative arrangements with minimal to no impact on the trek itself. So, I only have most positive things to say about TJA, highly recommend it, and plan to use it for my the future treks. Finally, if you happen to have Pema as your guide, not only will you get to meet a truly wonderful person and an expert guide, but you will also be directly supporting and promoting work by Nepali women guides. As I hear from friends who use TJA for their treks other guides are also excellent.

UNSURPASSED! These guides are perfect in all ways: they possess local knowledge, logistics, and safety expertise. But beyond all of this, they are amazing individuals with the kindest hearts, calm, gentle, respectful, and nurturing, completely focused on the group and their needs. This was the second pilgrimage I have done with them, and each time they have been precious jewels, providing incredible adventures.Posted on Google Maziar MomtaziTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Incredible Two-Day Tour Experience in Kathmandu with Mani from Three Jewels Adventures I recently had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable days touring Kathmandu with Mani from Three Jewels Adventures, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From start to finish, Mani was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable, truly the ideal guide for anyone wanting to explore the rich culture and hidden gems of Nepal’s capital. What sets Mani apart is his deep understanding of Kathmandu's history, culture, and spiritual significance. Whether we were wandering through the ancient streets of Patan Durbar Square, exploring the sacred Boudhanath Stupa, or soaking in the views at Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Mani’s storytelling and insights brought each location to life. His passion for Nepalese heritage is truly infectious. The tour was thoughtfully organized, perfectly paced, and tailored to my interests. Mani was always punctual, flexible, and full of great local recommendations, from the best spots for authentic momos to peaceful places to take in the views. I also appreciated how respectful and mindful he was when guiding through temples and sacred sites. If you are visiting Kathmandu and want a guided experience that goes beyond the typical tourist path, Three Jewels Adventures is the company to choose. Mani is not just a guide, he’s a cultural ambassador who made my trip incredibly memorable. I left with a deeper appreciation of Nepal and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, or anyone wanting a meaningful, insightful, and hassle-free experience in Kathmandu!Posted on Google Vagrant 42Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I wholeheartedly recommend Three Jewels for your trekking adventure in Nepal. We booked with Amber and the team based on a friend's recommendation, and our experience on the ground was fantastic. All we had to do was get ourselves to Kathmandu—Three Jewels took care of everything else. With our amazing guide, Pema Lamu Tamang, we spent 16 days trekking the ‘Three Passes’ in Sagarmatha National Park. It was incredible to have a female guide leading the way—such an inspiration for my daughter on the trip. When unpredictable mountain weather caused issues, Pema and the team worked tirelessly to adapt the plan. Likewise, they navigated the nuances of the ‘Nepal factor’ with professionalism and expertise. Some aspects of Nepali business culture—such as working with cash, often in large amounts—took a little getting used to for our Western sensibilities. But true to their word, Three Jewels provided everything as promised—and more.Posted on Google Shevy LokariaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nepal is a beautiful country that offers everything a human needs on a soul level: nature, adventures, culture, history until spiritual experience. And our Nepal trip couldn't be so happening and memorable without having Three Jewels Adventures made it happen for us! Million thanks to MANI. He put all of his time & hard work for 4 months going back and forth fine tuning our personal itineraries exploring Nepal in our way. We booked 3 days trip including Kathmandu City Tour, rafting on our way to Pokhara and Pokhara city tour visiting the caves. Being the first Indonesian client, that doesn't discount the true Nepali hospitality we experienced in a foreign country. All the reviews before agreed to our experience perfectly. Success to Three Jewels Adventures and looking forward to more adventures ahead!Posted on Google Jerom GeertsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a wonderful time during my Manaslu circuit organised by Three Jewels. Everything was top notch. It started with great communication with Amber and he was very helpful in matching the right trek to the experience i was after. They certainly delivered! I was collected from Kathmandu airport by Nursang, the fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful guide for my trip. The next day we set off for Khorlabesi, where we’d start the trip. Nursang took me to villages and guesthouses less visited by tourists and always selected spots with great food along the way (i think i became somewhat of a dal bhat connoisseur during this trip). He knew i appreciated experiencing the culture and a good physical challenge so he took me on some great side trips (Pung Gyen Gompa was a highlight!). In the end I wasn’t too keen on the overnight stay in Dharamsala mostly because of the altitude but also it being a bit of a tourist bottleneck before Larke La and Nursang fully adjusted my itinerary on the spot for this. (Hot tip: start your trekking days early, you’ll get the best views of the mountains and will run into hardly anyone). Transport to and from Kathmandu, on some pretty rough roads, went very smooth as there was always a driver waiting. Back in Kathmandu they also organised a fantastic cultural city tour for half a day before i rested up to catch my flight back home. All in all a seamless itinerary and hats off to Amber for organising and Nursang for executing. Can’t recommend Three Jewels enough! Thank you for the unforgettable experience!Posted on Google Kira HendryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went on a 10 day trek with my sister in Langtang Valley and had an amazing time thanks to Three Jewels Adventures. Our guide Amber is one of the kindest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. He is warm, understanding, and really took the time to ensure we felt super comfortable throughout our journey. He also has deep knowledge of Himalayan culture and was happy to answer all questions (no matter how silly they were) with the sort of information you wouldn’t be able to find in regular travel books! Be sure to ask him about his life stories and upbringing - you’ll feel nothing short of inspired. One of the main highlights of our trek was sharing fresh Yak cheese with Yak cheese farmers near Lirung Glacier. Me and my sister would have never had the chance to experience this if we didn't have Amber to take us off the beaten track for a truly one of a kind adventure. If you’re looking for a beautiful trek with stunning landscapes and rich history - choose Langtang Valley. If you’re looking for a trekking agency that puts heart and care into every step of your journey - choose Three Jewels Adventures. They are a rare gem and gave us memories we’ll treasure forever. Big thanks to Amber and our porter Leela for all the support, laughs, and cups of raksi - we’ll definitely be coming back for another trek!Posted on Google Jeanne EndersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amber and his team made it possible for us to have two amazing tours in Asia. His attention to detail, his kindness, his vast knowledge of the area and respect for us and his fellow citizens was so apparent throughout. Thanks to his knowledge, we ended up with a trek that was designed just for us and our preferences which included a cultural experience in addition to the ability to enjoy natural beauty. No one else had listened to us so well. I'll never forget the trip and we will go again. His team have become lifelong friends. We can't recommend Amber and Three Jewels enough!!Posted on Google Jade BystromTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hiked a less-traveled route from Pokhara suggested by guide Amber Tamang and had the most incredible experience. When you arrive in Nepal, it can be overwhelming to choose from the many guides and offers, but a good guide is really important, considering you will spend many days and nights with this person! I asked Amber to plan a 4-night 5 day journey off the beaten trail, and he really delivered for my fitness level, budget, and time allowance. He booked my bus from Kathmandu Bouddha area to Pokhara and sat on a few calls with me to consider gear and answer all of my packing and travel questions. He even met me at my hotel in Pokhara the night before our trek to make sure I had all of the right gear. I was blown away by the humility, wisdom, nurturance and grounded nature Amber shows up with- he made me feel right at home in Nepal. To speak to the trek he planned, and my desire to experience a less-touristy trail: Amber really tried to keep costs low for me as I was intent on hiking alone with guide (if you have more guests the price of jeeps and guide salary are cheaper FYI). He gave me an itemized breakdown of the cost and was very transparent about all of the logistics and financials. The Trek: we began at Ghandruk, reached Muldai peak and ended up at hot springs (with many secret spots, insiders-only knowledge about perfect timing, waterfalls and Rhododendron trees to gawk at along the way). He really delivered an “off-the-beaten trail” trek: sometimes we were the only two guests in the teahouses! This transformed what would have been a touristy experience into what felt like a sweet homestay. It was divine. I enjoyed the experience learning from Amber so much that I also booked his “Old Kathmandu City Tour” and met back up with he and his daughter when I was in Kathmandu. If you’re interested in a historical city tour- please book with The Old Kathmandu City Tour with Three Jewels Adventures! Amber Tamang and the guides at family-operated, Three Jewels Adventures, really know the trails, tea houses, history, and environment in the Himalayas. They’ve been doing it for decades and it shows. As a solo-traveling woman, it is important to me to feel safe and comfortable. That’s why, when a friend who trekked with Amber over ten years ago (and had an amazing experience) suggested I contact him, I did so immediately. Amber is a business owner, father and family-oriented man who is well-versed in the rich and ancient indigenous culture and histories of Nepal. Amber studied history and archeology and it shows! I was thrilled that my many questions about culture, history and what we saw along the trail lead to inspiring conversations on our 5-day journey together. I can’t imagine receiving a more rich or fulfilling experience with any other guide considering the depth of conversation we had and unique trails we hiked. Amber is an incredible heart-centered human and he felt like family very quickly. Thank you so much to Amber- I will be back!
