Cho La and Renzo La: Two Passes
This is one of the most spectacular treks in the Everest region. The trek is quite strenuous, but the traveler is rewarded with some incredible views and visits to centers of Himalayan culture. We head north from Namche Bazaar toward Everest Base Camp and Kalapattar. Then we proceed west crossing Cho La Pass and arriving in Gokkyo Valley at 4800m. We are surrounded by peaks and lakes. We climb Gokyo peak in a day hike and then head further west to Renzo La and Thame Valley. We have now seen all three valleys of the Everest Region--Khumbu, Gokyo, and Thame. From Thame we take the trail to Namche and Lukla for our return flight.
