A Summer Trek to Pikey

A Cultural Trekking to Foothills of Mt. Everest In Pikey Peak area

This is a remote and unfrequented region despite its proximity to the popular trekking route to Everest. Here, we walk trails seldom walked by westerners, thus giving you a chance to experience trekking ‘off the beaten track’, away from the main trials, and genuine cultural encounters. The trek begins after a short mountain flight to Phaplu airport and a visit to Chiwang Monastery a local Buddhist religious center for Sherpas.  And the trek goes through the villages set aside the hills from where most of the trekking staff hired by trekking agencies in Kathmandu live. Pikey peak at 14000ft is the highlight of this trip as one can view dramatic views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Numbur and other Himalyan peaks.  The trek culminates at the village of Shivalaya from where we take a ride back to Kathmandu.
