Annapurna Circuit and Thorong-La Pass
Many trekkers are attracted to Nepal with the goal of circling the beautiful area of the Annapurna mountain range. The trek starts from the hill village of Khudi which is reached after driving 8 hours from Kathmandu. The trek follows the Marshyangdi river valley which drains the terraced paddy fields. Slowly the trek reaches the alpine zone of Manang Valley, known in ancient religious books as Nyshang. The valley is squeezed between the majestic peaks of Annapurna, Manaslu, Pisang, Himluang and many others. The most challenging day of the trek is the climb to the Thorong La Pass which connects Manang valley with Kaligandaki on the other side. Just below the pass we see Muktinath, a site held sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists alike. You may see pilgrims who have walked for days to visit this holy spot, a cultural highlight of the trip. Previously, we would continue on to Pokhara, but now there is a road connecting Jomsom to Pokhara and regular flights from Jomsom. We will take a plane to Pokhara from Jomsom. Soon there will be a road connecting the Manang Valley to Pokhara, so it is crucial for visitors to come soon before there is much change
